Hofheim

Hofheim am Taunus is a historic old town in central Germany, near Frankfurt in the Rhine-Main region. With a population of some 40,000, it’s about twice the size of Tiverton. It is near a wonderful wine-growing area and surrounded by forest and open country, with the Taunus mountains providing a breath-taking backdrop to this picturesque town.

Hofheim is a historic old town, with carefully restored half-timbered homes, street cafes and shops. But Hofheim is also very centrally located in the heart of the Rhein Main region, with excellent transportation connections. Indeed, it takes only minutes to reach the Frankfurt Airport or the centre of Frankfurt.  You cannot help but notice the legacy of our 40 years’ twinning. The town square named “Tivertonplatz”; in the main street, the red phone box gifted in 1982; and the weather vane – a gift from Tiverton to commemorate 25 years together.

Hofheim also has great recreational assets with a wide range of sport and leisure facilities, such as an 18-hole golf course Hof Hausen and the region’s most modern waterpark, Rhein-Main Therme.

Hofheim (officially known as Hofheim am Taunus) is a Frankfurt suburb and the administrative centre of the Main-Taunus district, in the south of the state of Hesse and was first mentioned in 1262 as Hoveheim.
